 Various environment variables affect how your Informix products function. You can set environment variables that identify your terminal, specify the location of your software, and define other parameters. The environment variables discussed in this chapter are grouped and listed alphabetically beginning on page 3-12. In addition, an index of environment variables is included at the end of this chapter, on page 3-65.

Some environment variables are required and others are optional. For example, you must set-or accept the default setting for-certain UNIX environment variables.

This chapter describes how to use the environment variables that apply to one or more Informix products and shows how to set them.
