What Is Visionary?

Visionary is a tool you can use to retrieve, manipulate, visualize, and navigate through data stored in an object-relational database. Visionary does not require programming skills, but users should have some basic knowledge of databases and Structured Query Language (SQL).

A Visionary world is a graphic display of related data driven by dynamic SQL queries. A Visionary world consists of scenes, rather than traditional forms or reports. With a Visionary world, you can display semantic relationships between data entities as spatial relationships.

For example, one scene of a world could present employee and manager information as an organization chart, and another scene could present salary and length of service data from the same table as a scatter chart. The combination of these two scenes, with the navigation links between them, constitutes an example of a Visionary world.

As you navigate through a Visionary world, new queries are dynamically triggered. You can display multiple layers of data within the same scene, zoom in on a scene or data point to reveal additional levels of detail, or you can move to another scene using a wormhole.

You can publish a Visionary world as an ActiveX component for use in any application that supports ActiveX controls.
