Using the Visionary Tutorial The Visionary Tutorial is Web browser-based and introduces the basic terms, concepts, features, and functions of Visionary. Installing the Sample Database To use the Visionary Tutorial, you must have installed the stores7 sample database included with the database server. The stores7 database contains information about a fictitious wholesale sporting-goods distributor. For more information about the contents and structure of the stores7 database, see Appendix A of the Informix Guide to SQL: Reference, which is included in the Informix Visionary InfoShelf. The script that you use to install this database is called dbaccessdemo7. The script requires no arguments and must be run by a user with administrator privileges. The following procedure requires that Informix Dynamic Server with Universal Data Option is already installed and environment variables are set. If you are using the Windows NT version of the server, open a command window to run the scripts. To install the stores7 database 1. Create and load the stores7 database and tables: type dbaccessdemo7 and press ENTER. 2. Register the ifxbuiltins DataBlade module in the stores7 database: type blademgr and press ENTER. 3. At the > prompt, type register ifxbuiltins.1.1 stores7 and press ENTER. 4. Type Yes to confirm that you want to register the module. 5. To exit, type bye and press ENTER. The stores7 sample database and the dbaccessdemo script are included as part of the server. The Visionary Tutorial refers to this database as stores7. To minimize confusion, you should name the database you create stores7. Browser Requirements The Visionary Tutorial requires either: Netscape Navigator 3.01 or later. Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later. Starting the Tutorial You can start the Visionary Tutorial either from the Help menu in Visionary Studio or by clicking the link on the Informix Visionary InfoShelf home page.
