What Are Scenes?
A
scene
is a visual display of information, similar to a presentation slide except that it is linked to data stored in a database. Each scene you create can contain layouts that display data returned from
data sources
, and also can include graphic enhancements and navigation features.
A Visionary world can contain multiple interlinked scenes that an end user can navigate using Visionary Viewer. Users can move between individual scenes, set variables, and refresh the data displayed.
A scene can include the following elements and features:
Layouts, such as charts and hierarchies, that visually display data returned from a database. Layouts include data elements.
Navigation features such as viewpoints, levels of detail, event actions, or wormholes.
ActiveX controls such as WebBrowser, RichTextBox, or ActiveMovie controls.
Graphic objects such as text, rectangles, or pictures. Graphic objects can be static, such as a title for a scene, or they can be linked to data returned from the database.
Upcoming chapters describe how to add these elements and features.
When you start Visionary Studio, a default world and scene are automatically created and displayed in the
Scenes
panel of the World Manager. In addition, the Scene Editor is displayed so that you can begin to design your scene by inserting layouts and other graphic objects.
