In This Chapter

This chapter describes how to use the Query-language option on the DB–Access main menu. When you select the Query-language option, DB–Access displays the SQL menu. Use the various SQL menu options to enter, modify, save, retrieve, and run SQL statements.

Use the Query-language option to:

• Learn SQL and SPL.

  For example, use the Query-language option to practice the examples in the IBM Informix: Guide to SQL Tutorial.

• Create and alter table structures as an alternative to the DB–Access Schema Editor.
• Select, display, add, update, and delete data.

  DB–Access has no menu options for data manipulation.

This chapter also describes support for SPL routines.
