Setting Up the Hosts File

First, make sure the hosts file includes the IP addresses and system names for all database servers involved in Enterprise Replication.

Important:
If you are using Domain Name Service (DNS) to identify IP addresses and system names, you do not need to configure the hosts file.

The hosts file is in the following location.

Operating System File
UNIX /etc/hosts
Windows %WINDIR%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Important:
Leave a blank line at the end of the hosts file on Windows.

For example, your hosts file might look like the following:

123.456.789.1 sydney
123.456.789.2 melbourne
