Handling Character Data

The GLS feature allows you to put non-ASCII characters (including multibyte characters) in the following elements of an SQL statement:

• Quoted strings
• Comments
• Column substrings
• TRIM function arguments
• UPPER, LOWER, and INITCAP function arguments
