Configuring Dynamic Server

The following procedure shows how to use the configuration information to configure Dynamic Server.

To configure the database server
  1. Click Finish from the main installation wizard page.
  2. Specify the database server number.
  3. Specify a name for the database server.
  4. Specify the service name and port number for the TCP/IP network protocol.
  5. If you selected the Custom installation option:
    1. Specify a name for the root dbspace.
    2. Specify the primary and mirrored storage location and disk-space size for the root dbspace.
    3. Specify the name of the default sbspace.
    4. Specify the primary and mirrored storage location and disk-space size for the default sbspace.
  6. Specify the computer to use for shared server definition for your database server and administrative tools.

    The installation program installs services on the computer and configures the database server.

  7. If you configured a new instance of the database server, you are prompted to initialize the database server:
    • Click Yes to initialize the database server and the root dbspace.
    • Click No to skip initialization.

      If you skip initialization, you must manually start the database server and create the storage later. For more information on manual initialization, see Starting and Stopping the Database Server.

    Note:
    Database server initialization might take several minutes.

    A message indicates that the database server was successfully installed.

  8. If you selected other products to install, the installation prompts you to configure these products.
  9. To update the members of the Informix-Admin group, log out and log back in.

    This step enables you to run the IBM Informix administration tools.

  10. Restart your computer, if prompted.
