Using ISM with DNS Disabled

Windows Only

The domain name service (DNS) translates the hostnames into internet protocol (IP) addresses. This means that when your computer is not on the network, DNS is disabled and you need to provide the IP address and hostname in the hosts file.

End of Windows Only
Dynamic Server

For nonnetwork ISM installations with Dynamic Server, create a Windows hosts file with the default local loopback entry as follows:

127.0.0.1 localhost

The hosts file is located in C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. If this entry is not present in the hosts file, you might get the following error when you use ISM:

nsrmmd #1: unauthorized READ_LABEL call to mmd 1: Access violation -
[] unknown host: 127.0.0.1
End of Dynamic Server
