INFORMIX-Universal Server DataBlade API is the application programming interface for INFORMIX-Universal Server. You can use DataBlade API functions in DataBlade modules for the development of server and client applications that access data stored in a Universal Server database.

If you develop a server application on a client computer, you can use the same DataBlade API functions on the client and the server, in most cases, without changing the code. Almost all of the DataBlade API functions behave identically in the client and the server program to provide complete portability for applications.

This manual provides information only about the DataBlade API. For information about developing DataBlade modules, see the DataBlade Developers Kit User's Guide.
