mi_last_serial8()

The mi_last_serial() function obtains a SERIAL8 value that the database server has generated for the most recent INSERT statement on a SERIAL8 column.

Syntax

mi_integer mi_last_serial8(conn, serial8_val)

		MI_CONNECTION *conn;

		mi_int8 serial8_val; 


conn
is a pointer to the connection descriptor that a previous call to mi_open() or mi_server_connect() established.

serial8_val
is the new SERIAL8 value that the mi_last_serial8() function obtains.

Usage

The database server automatically generates values for SERIAL8 columns when it executes an INSERT statement on the column. Use the mi_last_serial8() function to obtain this system-generated value for your DataBlade routine.

To use the mi_last_serial8() function in a DataBlade API client application, call it after the INSERT has completed; that is when the mi_get_result() function has returned the MI_DML statement.
