Definition Layouts are graphic representations you can use to show data relationships. Visionary layouts enable you to display your data in various formats. For example, an XY chart has an x- and a y-axis and can be used to show trends for two variables plotted on a graph.
Concept You use layouts to display data in a scene. The data points are called the data element. Typically, each data point in a layout represents one row returned by a query. Some layouts are useful for comparing data points, or rows, and some are useful for showing relationships between data points.
For example, you can display the sales volumes of several automobile companies using a pie chart layout. The wedges in the pie chart represent the rows returned by a query that asks for total units sold per company. Thus, each wedge is a data point in the pie chart layout.
