Introducing the Informix Visionary InfoShelf

The Informix Visionary InfoShelf is an on-line tool designed to help you work with Informix Visionary. The InfoShelf contains the following components:

  • Informix Visionary User's Guide, which introduces Visionary, provides an orientation to the concepts and tools necessary to create Visionary worlds, and contains reference appendixes to help you work with Visionary objects and functions
  • A Tutorial that illustrates how to create Visionary worlds
  • A Library containing HTML versions of four Informix reference books relevant to Visionary
  • A master index

Software Dependencies

To use the InfoShelf, you must be using one of the following Web browsers:
  • Netscape Navigator, Version 3.01 or later
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer, Version 4.0 or later
    Note: if you are using Internet Explorer and receive a "No such interface supported" JavaScript error message, follow this procedure.

Viewing InfoShelf Components

To open a component from the InfoShelf home page, click the name of the component.

To return to the home page from any InfoShelf page, click Home in the navigation bar at the top of the page.

Navigating in the InfoShelf Library

When you first open a book, the introductory chapter appears in your browser window. Click to advance sequentially through chapter topics.

To go to another chapter in a book

  1. Click Contents in the navigation bar at the top of the page to display the table of contents in a new window.
  2. Select a chapter to display it in the current window.

To go the index of the current book

Click Index in the navigation bar at the top of the page to display the index in the current window.

To go from one book to another

  1. Click New Book from the navigation bar at the top of the page to display the list of books in a new window.
  2. Click the book you want to open it in a new window.

To go to the master index that contains entries for all books

  1. Click Master Index from the navigation bar at the top of the page to display the master index in the current window.
  2. Click a letter to jump to the entries that begin with that letter.

In addition, you can always access the complete set of Informix books on-line using the Answers OnLine CD-ROM or Web site. The CD-ROM and Web site contain the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) version of all Informix books.

To view documents in PDF format, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 3.0 or later. Adobe Acrobat Reader can be downloaded at no charge from Adobe Systems, Inc.
