About This Manual

This manual introduces Informix Visionary, which includes Visionary Studio and Visionary Viewer. This manual provides an orientation to the concepts and tools necessary to create Visionary worlds. In addition, it contains reference appendixes to help you work with Visionary objects and functions.

Organization of This Manual

The Informix Visionary User's Guide includes conceptual and basic procedural information to help you use Visionary, as well as reference appendixes. Comprehensive procedures and interface information are available through on-line help in the Visionary Studio application. For information about on-line help, see "Using On-Line Help".

This manual includes the following chapters:

A glossary of relevant terms follows the chapters, and an index directs you to areas of particular interest.

Types of Users

This manual is written for business domain experts with minimal SQL experience and database administrators with expertise in data modeling and database objects.

Software Dependencies

This manual describes Version 1.0 of Informix Visionary. Visionary requires Informix Dynamic Server with Universal Data Option Version 9.14 and the Informix Client Software Developer's Kit Version 2.02.

Databases used in conjunction with Visionary can be created with or without the logging option.

You must use BladeManager to register the ifxbuiltins DataBlade module in any database you want to use in conjunction with Visionary. Additional features such as spatial cursors are available if a spatial DataBlade module is installed.

If you include the WebBrowser or ActiveMovie ActiveX controls in a Visionary world and publish the world, both you and your end user must have installed Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later.
