Adding ActiveX Controls

Visionary supports the following ActiveX controls.

Icon Control Name Description

RichTextBox

A Visual Basic control that displays text in Windows RTF or ASCII format.

WebBrowser

An Internet Explorer 4.0 control. The WebBrowser control can be used inside a world even if the world itself is embedded in a different browser. The WebBrowser control is also an ActiveX document container. It can display the contents for all OLE-compliant applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. In addition, it can display HTML-based database entry forms and the contents of a directory.

ActiveMovie

An Internet Explorer 4.0 control that displays video in AVI or MPEG format. The video must be a file accessible from the client machine or stored as a binary large object in the database.

To insert an ActiveX control into a scene, it must be installed on your computer and be present on the client computer where the end-user runs Visionary Viewer to view the published world.

To insert an ActiveX control

    1. In the Scenes panel, double-click the scene into which you want to insert an ActiveX control.

    2. Choose Insert Control.

    3. Select the ActiveX control you want to insert to place it in the center of the Scene Editor.

    4. Drag the control to the desired location.

    5. Right-click the control and select Properties from the popup menu to display the Properties page of the Object Inspector.

    6. In the Object Inspector Properties page, modify the properties.

For complete information about ActiveX control properties, see Appendix A, "Object Properties Reference."

Tip: You can also insert an ActiveX control by clicking it in the Controls panel of the World Manager and then clicking the point in the Scene Editor where you want the control to appear.
