This chapter contains general information on High-Availability
Data Replication (HDR), which is available with the standard version
of Dynamic Server. HDR does not work with the IBM Informix Dynamic Server
Express Edition.
The chapter discusses the following topics:
- What HDR is
- How HDR works
- How HDR handles failures
- How to redirect a client to connect to the other database server in the
HDR pair (also called a replication pair)
- What the design considerations are for applications that connect to the
secondary database server
Using High-Availability Data Replication (Enterprise/Workgroup Editions), contains instructions
on how to accomplish the administrative tasks that are involved in using HDR.
Tip:
If you want to use asynchronous data replication,
see the IBM Informix Dynamic Server Enterprise Replication Guide.
