An HDR failure is a loss of connection
between the database servers in a replication pair. Any of the following situations
might cause a data-replication failure:
- A catastrophic failure (such as a fire or large earthquake) at the site
of one of the database servers
- A disruption of the networking cables that join the two database servers
- An excessive delay in processing on one of the database servers
- A disk failure on the secondary database server that is not resolved by
a mirror chunk
Tip:
An HDR failure
does not necessarily mean that one of the database servers has failed, only
that the HDR connection between the two database servers
is lost.
