Multiple Chunk Sbspace

Figure 22 illustrates a possible configuration for a three-chunk sbspace. In this example, chunk two contains no metadata of its own. Metadata information for chunk two is stored in the metadata area of chunk one.

Figure 22. Multiple-Chunk Sbspace Structure
begin figure description - The figure shows three chunks labeled chunks one, two, and three within an Sbspace labeled Sbspace one. Chunk one contains six sections: a Chunk descriptor, two User data areas, two Reserved data areas, and a metadata area that is labeled Metadata for chunks one and two. Chunk two has only three sections: Chunk header pages, one User data area and a Reserved data area. Chunk three contains four sections: Chunk header pages, User data, Reserved data, and a Metadata area labeled Metadata for chunk three- end figure description

The user-data area in chunk one of the example is actually optional. Chunk one could contain metadata for all other chunks in the sbspace.
