XY Chart

A type of layout that displays data in a two-dimensional graph consisting of connected points whose coordinates represent two variables. Data points are connected by straight lines in the order in which they were retrieved by a query. XY charts are useful for showing correlations between two types of numeric variables and for showing trends in these correlations.

Valid properties for XY Chart objects are described in the following table.

Property Data Type Description

Location

Point

Specifies the x, y coordinates of the center of the plot area bounded by the frame.

PlotAreaWidth

Numeric

Width of the plot area.

PlotAreaHeight

Numeric

Height of the plot area.

When you set properties for XY Chart objects, also specify properties for Frame, X Axis, Y Axis, Data Element, Alignment Panel, and Straight Connector objects. The association between an XY Chart object and supporting objects is represented in Figure A-19.

Figure A-19
XY Chart Objects

The XY Chart object has the following child objects.

Object Properties

Frame

See "Frame".

X Axis

See "Axis (Date/Time and Numerical)".

Y Axis

See "Axis (Date/Time and Numerical)".

Data Element

See "Data Element".

Alignment Panel

See "Alignment Panel".

Straight Connector

See "Straight Connector".
