Oninit® Troubleshooting Guidance
Reasons / Common Causes
-943 fires when DB-Access encounters an unterminated /* ... */ comment while running a .sql
script — per the official guidance, DB-Access doesn't currently support comments without a
closing terminator.
- A
/*comment with no matching*/, per the official guidance — the direct, only cause. - A closing
*/accidentally deleted or omitted during editing, especially in a long, multi-line comment block.
Solutions / Resolution
- Add the missing
*/terminator, per the official guidance — DB-Access requires every/* ... */comment to be properly closed. - Review the script for every
/*and confirm a matching*/follows, especially in scripts with several comment blocks, since one unterminated comment can silently absorb the rest of the file.
Examples
The disallowed unterminated comment
/* This comment is missing its closing terminator
SELECT * FROM orders;
Corrected
/* This comment now closes properly */
SELECT * FROM orders;
Diagnostic Checks
- Scan the script for every
/*and confirm each has a matching*/.
