Informix Error -9624: Maximum length must be greater than zero and smaller than 32,768.
Cause and resolution
Maximum length must be greater than zero and smaller than 32,768.
When you use the CREATE OPAQUE TYPE statement to define a variable- length opaque type, the value that you specify for the maximum length modifier must be greater than 0 bytes and smaller than 32,768 bytes. Redefine the type with a valid value.
Oninit® Troubleshooting Guidance
Reasons / Common Causes
-9624 fires when a CREATE OPAQUE TYPE statement for a variable-length type specifies a maximum length outside the valid range — per the official guidance.
- A maximum length of 0 or less, or 32,768 or more, per the official guidance — the direct, only cause.
Solutions / Resolution
- Redefine the type with a valid maximum length (greater than 0, smaller than 32,768), per the official guidance.
Examples
An invalid maximum length
CREATE OPAQUE TYPE my_type (maxlength = 0, ...); -- -9624
Corrected
CREATE OPAQUE TYPE my_type (maxlength = 256, ...);
Diagnostic Checks
- Check the
maxlengthmodifier's value, and set it within the valid 1-32,767 range.
