Informix Error -1128: There are no more rows in the direction you are going.
Cause and resolution
There are no more rows in the direction you are going.
You are attempting to scroll an array of records farther than it can go, either scrolling up at the top or scrolling down at the bottom of the array. Further attempts will have the same result.
For 4GL programs, -1309 replaces this error.
Oninit® Troubleshooting Guidance
Reasons / Common Causes
-1128 fires when scrolling through an array of records goes past its boundary — either scrolling
up while already at the top row, or down while already at the bottom row — per the official
guidance, -1309 is the equivalent error for 4GL programs specifically.
- Scrolling past the top or bottom of the array, per the official guidance — the direct, only cause; continued scrolling in the same direction produces the same result.
Solutions / Resolution
- Stop scrolling in that direction — per the official guidance, this is expected boundary behavior, not a fault to fix.
- Scroll the other direction, or otherwise navigate within the array's actual bounds.
Examples
N/A
An interactive boundary condition rather than a statement-level one — this is expected behavior when scrolling reaches the top or bottom of the array.
Diagnostic Checks
- Confirm the scroll direction was actually past the array's boundary, if this appears unexpectedly rather than at a genuine top/bottom edge.
