Nope, they are not dumb at all, I have asked dumber ones. :-) > > What of the confidentiality vs. availability of the encryption algorithm? Confidentiality and availability shouldn't be a issue, the key issue should be how long it takes for a supercomputer to break it. Really, encryption algorithm are common enough, and I have heard of one-way encryption, which is how passwords are encrypted, which means it cannot be decrypted to get the original message. I think that is pretty good. > Does Informix plan to provide an encryption function? I heard of OnLine/Secure, not sure if that provides encryption, probably does. In the libraries?? Nope, I don't think so. I think better to get a commercial package/library for that. > Have you determined a way to mask the PIN at entry time? Isn't there a way to specify password field in a form, where the data entered will not be showned?? I don't have my manual here, but I think its INVISIBLE or something like that, pretty sure it can be done in the form, 4GL that is. > How elaborate a subsystem do you envision regarding PIN management?
