Need help with codeset conversion
Posted in 1997
Dear Informix Experts, we are running Online 5.07 on a Siemens-Nixdorf RM400 under SINIX 5.42. All terminals connected to this machine are operating in 7-bit mode and map the special German characters to 7-bit-ASCII characters, e.g. the "o umlaut" is mapped to "|". Any time the database is accessed via MS-Windows frontends and I-CLI (ODBC via I-Net), these characters are displayed in their original ASCII format, so a "|" appears where an "o umlaut" should be etc. This situation should be handled by the codeset conversion capability of I-Net, but I haven't been able to find the correct settings for "DB_Locale" and "Client_Locale". I assume that "1252" is correct for "Client_Locale" in German MS-Windows, but what do I need for "7-bit ASCII" on the server? Furthermore, I need the correct conversion files (.cv and .cvo). Can anybody supply me with the correct settings and files?
