Informix and OnLine Docs...

From: Joy Robinson <joy@lynx.informix.com> Bill, here's a response. Since my efforts to post it myself have generated messages about pnews missing from my path, I'll let you post it for me - Thanks, Joy >> Contrary to the impression received by the original poster, there are many people at Informix who are interested in providing online versions of our documentation (the 5.0 OnLine Workstation Manual has already been mentioned). In fact, we posted a survey several years ago to this newsgroup to better understand our customers' interest in, and expectations of, online manuals; approximately 40 of you responded. You can help us again by answering such questions as the following in your postings: Is CD-ROM your preferred delivery mechanism? Do you already have an online documentation viewer? If so, which one(s)? Would you prefer hardcopy documentation to be standard, with CD docs priced separately, or vice versa? What features are most important to you when using online docs, for example the ability to do boolean searches, to copy and paste from a document, to maintain user annotations, to use automatic cross-references, others? Is it important to you that the screen display match the hardcopy page? That you have the ability to print screen by screen? That the online format use SGML data representation? Thanks for any and all feedback.
