RE: Rtree index creation very slow
Posted in 2005
Check whether the index is built bottump-up or not. The bottom-up index build is much faster that the top-down. I believe most of the datablades that use rtree ( SpatialWare, Geodatic etc. ) support it. If the blade you are using ( or the opclass used for creating the index in question) doesn't support that, then you might want to consider implementing the required support functions to enable it. Please refer to the R-Tree user guide. The chapter 2 has a detailed section on bottom-up build. thanx Prasad >From: Jose Luis Matute <matute@dydes.com> >To: informix-list@iiug.org >Subject: Rtree index creation very slow Date: Wed, 13 Jul 2005 09:42:51 >+0200 > >Hi, > >I'm dealing with a rtree index that takes 75 hrs to get created.
