In need of BLOB expertise

Hello gurus! We have an application that will be storing blobs on one table. The average blob size will be 300 K (not counting Informix overhead for storage of the blob). The system using these blobs is OLTP. SO, based on your expert opinions, should the blobs be stored with the table in the tablespace, or in their own blob space? Could someone give me a detailed list on the pros and cons of each? I find the sections of the manual on this topic to be sketchy.
