If you can read German, go to the Web page: http://www.sag.de/passage/96-3/ad-unicd.htm The fact that the other RDBMSes still don't properly support Unicode is a major disgrace. Interbase and Oracle's recent versions only support UTF-8. Illustra did have Unicode support, but its new owner Informix doesn't. MS and Sybase SQL Server don't. IBM's DB2 doesn't and seems to have only one employee (in Toronto) who even cares about this.. This is a tough one. Microsoft's support of Unicode in the NT environment still leaves a lot to be desired; so do the various Java implementations, including JDK 1.1, which was supposed to fix the internationalization problems once and for all. > >The client seats would be MS Windows 95 or NT 4; >would prefer to run the RDB on a Solaris box, but flexible on this. Besides Zinc, maybe Visix for Unicode. One could also use Visual C++ with Stingray's Objective Grid. Java JDK 1.1 is supposed to have this capability, but it didn't work on the NT platform when I took a very brief look at it there. >BTW, the user interface -- that is, the prompts and error messages, etc. -- >should preferably be in English, rather than in any other language. >It's just the _data_ that we want to be in non-English languages. > >Am already aware of Oracle, Interbase, Zinc.
