1995 DEVELOPERS COMPETITION UPDATE! OCTOBER 4-7th 1995 Here are a few items of interest about this years Developers Competition. 42 teams have signed up for the world's largest database competition. There are still two months remaining to sign up. We have room for over 100 teams to compete. Among the 42 teams are the first place teams from each of our four competitions. Will we have our first repeat winner? Among the 8 teams from outside the US are two teams from Japan. They will be using Magic, apparently the most popular development language in Japan since they can develop in their own language. Will the Japanese take the Developers Competition crown like the Belgians did last year? HELP is STILL NEEDED: We still need industry experts that could help in the capacity as a judge. Judges are typically seasoned database developers, who work in panels of 4 and score the applications according to a pre determined judging script. If you would like to get the inside view of the Developers Competition, give us a call and help us out as a judge. In order to be a judge, please submit a brief bio in paragraph format. FREE PASSES: If you would like to watch the finals on Saturday, Visit with the teams, or attend the Database related seminars, please call us to register for a free pass. 800-677-3542. It is the world's largest software competition. Each year we select a worthy organization that needs a computer program written. In 1994 we selected Habitat for Humanity. We write up a spec for that program and then invite developers to compete to see who can do the best job. The competition is 1 1/2 days. 120 Teams of 1 or 2 members will compete. Any development tools, platforms, languages will be allowed. All teams will build an application to the same specifications. Total cash prizes of $10,000 will be awarded the top 3 teams. Gold medals will be awarded the best MultiMedia, Object Oriented, Rapid Application Development and Client Server application. Over $500,000 in software will be split between all contestants.
