If you have I-Star installed on both machines, I believe you could get away with one OpenLink request broker & database agent on just one of the two machines, but I wouldn't recommend it. (You would not need a database agent on the second machine.) With a single request broker/agent, you'll be hitting the network twice to get to the server on the machine without the broker/agent.
