Your PC userid needs to exist on the SUSE box and the PC's address has to be trusted. Art Art S. Hi Art, thanks for your quick answer. So I need to define a user danny on my SuSe. Can you guide me for the trusting of my ip-address? Thanks! You can put the address into a .rhosts file in 'danny's home directory and make it read-only by owner only. Art Art S. No., no, please no...
Informix/IBM took around 20 years to fix something that customer kept
complaining... So now that it's solved let's not keep the bad habits
Please use the parameter REMOTE_SERVER_CFG in $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG.to
define a file (located in $INFORMIXDIR/etc).
Include the trust in that file. This parameter is dynamic:
onmode -wf REMOTE_SERVER_CFG=some_file
echo "192.168.1.122 danny" >> $INFORMIXDIR/etc/some_file
But before all this...
I assume error -951 is what you get on the client side... for security
reasons, there are 3 authentication errors that are mapped to -951 on the
client:
-951
-952
-956
To make sure the issue is with the trust check the online.log (onstat -m)
immediately after the connection attempt. If you see an error line with
-956 that create the trust as above.
If you see -951 you need to create user danny on the SUSE machine.
If you see -952 you're probably using a user/pass to authenticate and the
password is incorrect.
Regards
