length of columns names
Hi all,
In IDS 9, the maximum length of columns names is 128 characters. It was 18
in IDS 7.
The old limit of 18 characters seems to be compiled into old tools: having
defined one test colon with a name of 45 characters, I get the following
results:
request:
select length(colname), colname from syscolumns ORDER BY 1 desc;
- using ISQL 7.20.UD7, the result is false:
45 ceci_est_une_colon
- same false result with I4GL 7.20.UD7, R4GL 7.20.UD7
- using dbaccess 9.40, the result is true:
45 ceci_est_une_colonne_de_plus_de_18_caracteres
- same true result with JDBC 2.21.JC1
What do you thing about that ?
What are the more recent versions of the tools (isql, i4gl, r4gl) that
manage correctly the true length of syscolumns.colname ?
