Re: INFORMIX CLI and SQLWindows -Reply

Delphi can use I-CLI (ODBC) or its own native 'SQLLink' drivers. Either solution requires I-Connect as well. Delphi 'talks' to the BDE, which 'talks' to either I-CLI or the Borland Native Informix SQLLink driver, which in turn 'talks' to I-Connect. -- Sky >>> Jonathan Leffler <johnl@informix.com> wrote >>> >From: fgm@soon.com (Frederic MARAND) >Date: Wed, 19 Mar 1997 06:51:39 GMT >X-Informix-List-Id: <news.35504> > >Nils.Myklebust@idg.no (Nils Myklebust) wrote: >>Chen Yin Min <ymchen@global.com.my> wrote: > <snip> > >What's the difference between Informix CLI and Informix Connect, then ? > >I received both products names as an answer for Delphi C/S connectivity >with Informix. .Informix-Connect is the package of software (and a licence) which allows you to run ESQL/C .based applications on a machine where you don't have the necessary material available via .another Informix package. It allows you to connect to databases, etc, hence its name. I .know this applies to Unix; the rules under Windows may be mildly different. . .Informix-CLI is Informix's version of ODBC (give or take the issues of who actually wrote .it, etc). . .I don't know which product you need for Delphi. If Delphi needs ODBC, then you'd .presumably need Informix-CLI. You might also need Informix Connect, but I don't know. . .Yours, .Jonathan Leffler (johnl@informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h>
