Please help! I have installed IDS 10 on Windows XP. When dbaccess
started, it connect to the internet and hang. Finally, it comes back
with Error 900: Attempt to connect to database server failed.
Connection Refusd.
What is wrong? Why is Informix trying to connect to the internet?
Thank you.

It's probably doing a DNS lookup of your local machine. Try putting your
server's IP address into the hosts file on your Windows box.

did i mention i like nulls? heck, i even go so far as to say that all
columns in a table except the primary key could/should be nullable. this
has certain advantages, for example, if you need to insert a child record
and you don't have a parent row for it, just do an insert into the parent
table with the primary key value (everything else null), and voila,
relational integrity is preserved. but this is, admittedly, a bit
controversial among modellers.

Thank you! Can you tell me how to stop it from doing that? Nim

I assume you mean 908 ?? I take it the engine is actually starting OK ?
Are you using the same environment for dbaccess that you are using for
dbaccess ? Make the machine resolve locally, just edit the hosts file
