Sorry I got your reply only after I sent in a reply to your previous
post. Since you dont have indexes, please ignore my previous post. Is
it possible that the priority of your engine (oninit) process is
degrading with time? If the hardware supports it, you can set NOAGE to
prevent priority ageing. HP-UX also has an O/S command called rtprio -
I dont know what it is on Linux.
If you could perhaps look at an onstat -p before your program and when
it degrades, it could point to other resource bottlenecks.

The prepare part itself is not very time-consuming (I have checked this),
it's the insert itself.

I have done this, there is only the serial column.
