The only line I can see which might cause problems is: $(LOCAL): $(LIB) Since these macros are the same, there is a recursive dependency? I would modify the local rule to read: local: $(LIB) and remove the line: $(LOCAL): $(LIB) and see what happens. As you can tell, I have not actually done any testing, so I could be all wrong.
