Is there any way to determine the size of the global descriptor table for a 4GL program (AIX 4.2.1, INFORMIX-4GL Version 6.04.UC2)? This table has a limit and I am really close to it with one of my programs. I need to know how close.

I need to know how close. No, I don't think there's a way to find out other than by trial and experiment - horribly unscientific (or, at least, non-analytic). The good news is that I4GL 7.30 will have the GSS space increased way beyond the 64 kB limit -- like 1 GB or so. You might even find that fix in the 7.20.UEx versions of I4GL - or that may be related more to other problems. V7.30 should be out in July 99 or thereabouts; this prediction is subject to the usual vagaries of predictions about the future (ie, it is probably wrong!). -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
