We're using a very similar setup (3 smp), storing ~200 columns in three tables at a 1 second sampling rate, and many others in several other instances of OnLine. The user load is currently 8-15 users, often mostly developers, with users having the ability to generate monster queries against ~12GB of storage. Our specs are: DEC OSF/1 V3.2 Worksystem Software (Rev. 214) DEC OSF/1 V3.2A (Rev. 17); Thu Sep 14 10:28:24 CDT 1995 INFORMIX-OnLine Version 7.10.UD2 -- On-Line -- Up 17 days While we're not especially thrilled at the wonderful DEC/Informix alliance, the package does keep us up and running. We are committing more and more of our operation to the Alpha box. If there's a problem (perhaps associated with a tuning parameter at 4 cpus?) then we really want to know.
