Otherwise use '-b' to backup dbspaces in parallel. While we are on this, by 'parallel' I thought that means 'backup different dbspaces in parallel'. We have only 4 dbspaces (rootdbs, tmpdbs, datadbs, indexdbs, logs are salvaged before and after), while rootdbs is quite small and tmpdbs don't have much to backup, only datadbs and indexdbs are left. And since the tape drive is writting at around 3-5MB/sec already with one stream of data. (We have two drives, but each configured to accept 8 streams of data) 'parallel' isn't reducing much time for us. Our next plan is to create more dbspaces on more disks (if they are available). So YMMV... -- Chris Lo mailto: chris.lo@prudential.com.hk System Administrator/Informix DBA mailto: cklo@cklo.hk.super.net The Prudential Assurance (HK) Co.
