John, Thank you very much for putting forward some of the information about archecker. Many people had been looking forward for this information since long time ago, and really nobody helped till you came along and posted your reply. If it could be possible, can you send us more information about it. like the print out of a session and a few examples of the commands that will get things happening (and perhaps their output). For many of us IDS 7.31 is still far away and we don't have the proper documentation to a very much need utility that is available with us know. So, if you please, can you elaborate on archecker for the benefit of every one. Best Regards, Amgad Al-Sisi

If you have support from Informix, you can talk them into sending you a
version of archecker for versions before 7.3X. They will make lots of
noise about how it is not supported and they don't garantee it. They are
not lying. However, it kinda of nice to have your ontape level 0 archive
pass through archecker without errors. It only checks the pages that
ontape has written to the tape. It knows nothing about your actual
database. There is no way to guarantee an archive without doing a restore.
Still, I think that it is worth the time to run it. It might show gross
errors in your archive that could lead you to running another archive.
