Your right, it is a step in the right direction, but my parents allways told me, that if I'm going buy something, make sure you get your money's worth. I don't really like the idea of purchasing a version of Informix that wasn't ment to be ran on the targeted OP-System. What happens if I need support? Informix won't help me even though I purchased their software! We all know that Informix isn't perfect and there is bugs in their engines... If i purchase Informix, it has to be for the targeted OP-System. > The problem is, of course, that Informix still won't port a version > to Linux. Linux is supported by a number of different companies, the biggest one that comes to mind is Caldera (email: info@caldera.com http://www.caldera.com) which is owned by former CEO (?) of Novell and CEO(?) of WordPerfect. They have a _VERY_ nice support package. If they want a list of people that support the Linux OP-System, they should get a copy of the Linux Journal. It is full of companies that will support it. Most of them are really good, they would more than likely fall over themselves to get Informix as a customer... But, Informix would never do something that smart! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Jason Lambert Bass, Inc.
