Hi John Getservbyname is a fairly common TCP/IP procedure which fetches the port number from the port name listed in your TCPIP stack's SERVICES file. When Ilogin returns this error, it is telling you it cannot locate the 'service' entry that you provided in the Ilogin connection dialog. You didn't mention what TCP/IP vendor you are using, so I can't offer specific help in troubleshooting. I CAN tell you that you'll need to make sure you have an entry in your client's services file that matches the port entry on your server. Also, you may very well have an ETC environment variable which points to the directory containing your services file. Make sure it is properly set, if your protocol stack uses it. I know that Novel LanWorkplace uses the \\LWPxx\\TCP directory for configuration files, in case you happen to be using LWP. Since you say other machines can get there, here's another tip: If they're all running the same vendor TCP/IP stack (typical offices do), you may want to take a peek at their environment settings to make sure your machine's matches theirs. If this fails, back up your client machine's services file and copy one of the working services files onto your machine.
