Hello Luis,
Server Studio is a relatively new IBM product. Most new products,
regardless of who makes them (myself included), needs bugs removed and
enhancements made. If you cannot get support from IBM then I would
suggest that you use the existing tools that comes with Informix.
These tools are dbaccess, onstat, onmonitor, etc. I have never used
Informix on Windows but I am guessing that you have those tools. The
down side is that those tools require a lot more reading of the
Informix manuals. But that is a good thing in the long run.

That's an astonishingly ignorant response from a regular poster :-) Server
Studio is not an IBM product, and has been around for at least 8 years. It
provides many things which are completely impossible using Informix
commands. If you don't believe me, go to www.serverstudio.co.uk where you
can watch some video demos by yours truly :-)

My bad. I thought y'all were talking about this: http://www-01.ibm.com/software/data/informix/serverstudio/ Sorry for any misunderstanding. -L.S.

I believe you're confusing Server Studio with Data Studio.
Since the OP also mentions Sentinel I think he is referring to the AGS product
called Server Studio.
In any case, Data Studio (an IBM product) is perfectly capable of connecting to
IDS. And it's not that new... currently at 2.1 it's stable. You can wonder
about the functionality it provides... But not it's stability.
As for the problem itself... Being on Windows... I would bet on TCP issues.
You should check:
. If your PC has more than one TCP interface (wireless, virtual cards for
virtualization products etc.)
. Check your Setnet settings and see to which host is the INFORMIXSERVER
associated to.
. Check to see if that host resolves to the correct IP address (if you have
more than one network interface)
. Check to see in which IP address the IDS is listening to...
Hopefully some of these will give you a clue about the problem...
If the hostname to IP get's to weird just set it up to 127.0.0.1 for testing
purposes.
Regards.

My email works... but I don't check it frequently...
That is indeed the same product, but it's not actually IBMs: hidden at the very bottom it says "Developed by AGS Ltd in close cooperation with IBM" :-) "LIGHT SCANS" <light_scans@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:ce20e5ef-a98e-47bd-b11c-b54a3268be33@r41g2000prr.googlegroups.com... > My bad.
