Many people I asked have the same problem like I have, but also no idea
about a solution:
Test equipment:
Sun SparcStation under SunOS 4.1.1 with 4.10 front end,
5.0 back end (OnLine)
WYSE 7000 with 4.10 front end and 4.10 back end (OnLine)
SCO like WYSE on Intel
DEC (Ultrix) with 4.0 front end / 4.0 back end
(Behaviour: All the same, I personally tested the first two, the others
I've been told of)
The problem:
When I fetch a cursor for update into my data record and do an INPUT
WITHOUT DEFAULTS, all the ae and ue (small adiaeresis and udiaeresis)
characters are displayed as question marks (?). The data record
contains the real characters, I checked this with the debugger. The
other special characters work, I checked all the hungarian characters,
which are about three times as many as the german umlauts.
While this is annoying, the following is getting me mad: If I
change something in that field, the questionmarks get real
questionmarks in the record. Argggh.
The strange thing is: DISPLAY works. Any hints/solutions out there?
If there is enough input, I'll summarize as usual, thank you in advance.
