It tackles the difficult challenge of covering the whole gamut of Informix topics, from development tools through database design to systems administration. Different topics are written be different authors, so the content and prose quality is not uniform. But most aspects are covered adequately, with examples (provided on an accompanying CD-ROM), and I've found it good value for money. One gripe; some sections, notably that covering getting the best from technical support, is utterly useless to anyone outside the US, making me suspect that the commissioning editors either intended it solely for the US domestic market or (more likely) just didn't bother to think!
