onbar restore hanging

ids v11.50.fc5 aix 6.1 I'm doing a remote restore ... which I have done a zillion times on this particular server ... Today I fire off the onbar -r ... command .. it mounts the virtual tape .. does a level 0 restore of the reserve pages ... Then it just hangs there ... the onbar process is chewing up CPU .. but nothing is happening ... no request to TSM for the next tape .. usually at this point the engine goes into fast recovery .. Just wondering if anyone has ever run into this ... I'm currently on hold to tech support .. been on hold for like 45 minutes .... Any help would be appreciated ... It would be interesting to see the truss (strace?) of the relevant processes. If that happens regularly you should increase the debug level. If you don't have any messages in the onbar.log file it's probably onbar code. If it was waiting for some call off the XBSA library you should see regular messages like "process is stalled". Regards.
