Deadlock timeouts in Fourgen and Informix-4GL

The following is from Paul Gooding, one of our developers w/out Email: >>>>>from Paul Gooding<<<<< We are interested in learning of problems, case histories, solutions related to deadlock timeouts in Fourgen and Informix-4GL applications, epecially OnLine Dynamic Server 7.10 UC2 or UD1, INFORMIX-4GL Version 4.11.UC4, and 4.12.UC1 Fourgen Case Tools (Screen Code Generator) products. We have experienced unexpected and unexplained timeouts, and resulting in fatal program errors, when two or more users attempt inserts or deletes against the same table at the same time. With respect to the Fourgen Tools aspect of this question, the problem is mostly, but not entirely, related to deadlocks ocurring in concurrent insert/update requests when multiple users are running the same set of add-on screens at the same time. With respect to the Informix-4GL aspect of this question, we are looking for information about the management of concurrent similar requests to the database for inserts or updates, and any problems which might be related to the database as opposed to the 4Gl code. -- schuylers@aol.com --
