MS SQL Server + OnLine?

Is anyone out there using Microsoft SQL Server with Informix OnLine 5/6? I was wondering if SQL Server has direct support for Informix. I need to be able to, ultimately, connect client applications such as Microsoft Access and Excel to Informix OnLine, but the pricing and configuration problems with ODBC drivers are too much. Hopefully, SQL Server can act as "RDBMS middleware". Any comments MUCH appreciated!! I have heard that Informix and Q+E (Intersolv) are discussing providing an older version of the Q+E ODBC driver with I-net, since the I-net supposededly supported ODBC - but did not come with a driver.
