.. to answer my own question .. There is bug in all versions of the WebBlade - including NT, when creating temp tables in web pages always use the WITH NO LOG otherwise on any failure (syntax, table lock etc) Informix will attempt to drop your temp table twise and cause a partn assert failure. Informix are currently working on a fix. i.e. How to assert your database ... STEP 1) create webpage:- <html> <?MISQL SQL="CREATE TEMP TABLE jnk (i CHAR(1) ) ;"> <?/MISQL> <?MISQL SQL="SELECT * FRROM jnk;"> <?/MISQL> </html> STEP 2) run SQL :- SELECT webexplode(object,'') FROM webpages WHERE id='webpagename'; Geoff Poole, Oxford GlycoSciences geoffrey.poole@ogs.co.uk > -----Original Message----- > From: Geoffrey Poole [SMTP:Geoffrey.Poole@ogs.co.uk] > Sent: 17 February 1999 14:05 > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: IUS+Web Blade Assert Failed > > I am getting repeated assert fails (80 per day!) caused by a web page SQL > select statement failure due in turn to a straight forward row/table lock > problem (-243). > The Informix logfile contains "Assert Failed: pthdrpage:ptalloc:bad partn > page" > Has anyone seen similar symptoms ? > Does any use the web blade with no problems ? > This failure is starting to cripple our production system, Informix tech > support are looking into it but are taking their time. > > INFORMIX-Universal Server Version 9.14.UC2, web.3.32.UC2, SunOS 5.6 > (Solaris > 2.5.1) > Geoff Poole > geoffrey.poole@ogs.co.uk
I've found that using temp tables through the web blade is never a good idea unless you are ALWAYS GOING TO USE THE CGI interface to the DB. In CGI, each page is a complete connection (webdriver runs and exits for each page), so the temp tables are there for one app page. With NSAPI a connection to the DB is maintained through more than one apppage, so the temp table will persist until the connection ends. Have you tried dropping a temp table? I've found some people develop using CGI and then move to NSAPI for performance and things don't always behave the same. Just be careful.
