Speed, cost, downtime, support, configuration... there are so many. Speed is once concern. Most OLTP shops seem to see a 5-15% speed decrease going from 5.x to 7.x. In return, you gain better configurability, archive tools, and reporting. If you have a large codebase, I'd say that you should be more concerned about the transition from 4.x to 6.x of the tools (assuming c4gl here). There are a surprising number of "minor" "inconsequential" changes and "bug fixes" that may well bite the unknowing. Hrm. Sounds like an inxutil article to me. Tim -- want one?
